Japanese medics are typically held at the platoon level if not higher, and service as the focus for all medical treatment in their units. Thanks to the JSDF's long history of focusing on domestic assistance to civil authorities and disaster response, JSDF medics typically have substantial real-world experience in a broader range of medical specialties than their counterparts in other forces.
